I am looking for an easy way to identify jacks, without using a tone and probe. I do make mistake with labeling the patch panel
Also, easier for my friends to troubleshoot once I am done with the install. I do this as a hobby for friends and family only.
I am presuming this is for patch panel side. I don’t suggest using anything from EBay. Plus on top of that, at first look these keystones would need a POE switch to power these type of keystones. So if you aren’t using this type of switch you are stuck. Even professional still use the manual way to test a verify. They don make testers with more testing ends so you can do more test more that one at time.
These are not extremely expensive, Klein Tools VDV501-851 Cable Tester Kit with Scout Pro 3 for Ethernet / Data, Coax / Video and Phone Cables, 5 Locator Remotes - Amazon.com and you can purchase additional ID plugs if you shop around. They will do the wire test for you as well, but the drawback is that you cannot do the wire test to the ID plugs as you can with the Fluke.
I have those tools by (fluke, Klein, etc). I do not require my firends and family to purchase. I am always looking for gear to make installations easiers. When I am done, I turn over the responsibility to the home owner, as my services are free. I have retired from recovery data, fixing laptop and desktops.
