I have a issue with my 6204 that started by itself with sending voicemails to email.
No one on the system is receiving the voicemail emails currently.
When testing the email settings, the receiver test email get a message that states
SIP Register Failded (yes, that is how it is spelled on the message)
2024-02-24 18:31:40
SIP register failed! remote address is: IPV4/UDP/10.10.10.144/5062, account id is: 209
My settings are
Client
Plain text smtp.gmail.com:587
enable SASL
username xxx@gmail.com (outside of the google organization workspace for testing right not)
Display Name “Phone Message”
Sender XXX@xxxedsburg.org
I have less secure apps turned on with the sender email, and even tried turning on 2FA and using the onetime password.

Did you enable Fail2ban?
It appears that there is a device trying to register to your PBX and it is failing.
I would start with the device at 10.10.10.144 on your network and see what that is.
Sorry, those posts were just copies of responses I thought wasn’t posted. That was my mistake. I am still looking for an answer, but as James pointed out, I have an issues with an extension that I need to look at first. I am back on site today to look at that.
From what I understand from the original post is that emails are successfully sent regarding failed sip registrations.
The issue you have is that voicemail to email is not working when someone receives a voicemail. Is that correct?
If system emails are sending to the designated user, then I would look at whether or not the voicemail email option is enabled in your users, and if your users have email addresses populated in their extension.
Call Features → Voicemail → Voicemail Email Settings → Make sure all three options are checked - Send Voicemail Email Notification, Attach Voicemail to Email, and Keep Voicemail after Emailing.
The above settings will ensure that if the extension option “Attach Voicemail to Email” is set to default and there is an email address in the email field for the extension the email should go. You can also set “Attach Voicemail to Email” as Yes to ensure that it is.
What happens if you go to the email settings and send a Test email to yourself?
What do the Email Send Logs look like? Do you see Send Result - Sent or Deferred?
I use Gmail in my Grandstream Lab for inbound/outbound email with no issues.
My Settings:
Type - Client
TLS Enable - Checked - Did not see this on your list.
Email Template sending format - HTML
[smtp.gmail.com](without a port)
enable SASL
username [xxxx] - without the @gmail.com
Display Name “PBX”
Sender [xxxx@gmail.com](matches my gmail account)
Less secure apps is turned on and I am using an app password specific for the Grandstream PBX connection.
James, thanks for the suggestions. The issue you have is that voicemail to email is not working when someone receives a voicemail. Is that correct? Yes that is correct. It was working but something changed in the couple of months that made it stop working.
Call Features → Voicemail → Voicemail Email Settings → Make sure all three options are checked - Send Voicemail Email Notification, Attach Voicemail to Email, and Keep Voicemail after Emailing. All 3 were checked
What happens if you go to the email settings and send a Test email to yourself?
I get a response back saying “Failed to get data”
What do the Email Send Logs look like? Do you see Send Result - Sent or Deferred? The email log never shows up, just the spinning wheel of death
Less secure apps was turned on
Not sure what was done or what affected the outcome, but now we are receiving emails. Since this has been not working for a few months now, my administrator email is filling up with all the old error emails, thousands of emails.
Here is my current settings
Enable TLS
Client
Plain text smtp.gmail.com:465
enable SASL
username [xxx@shsreexxxxxx.org]
Display Name “SHS Voicemail Message”
Sender XXX@xxxedsburg.org
So as of now, things are working. Thanks for all the help
I was having issues with GMail as well a few months back and found that Google is moving away from the less secure apps process. I found that I can use an outlook.com account (free account) in the UCM’s. I switched to using outlook.com accounts and have not had any problems. The settings are below
TLS Enable: Checked
Type: Client
Email Template Sending Format: Text or HTML
SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com:587
Enable SASL Authentication: Checked
Username: xxxxxx.outlook.com (senders email address)
Password: senders email password
Enable Email-to-Fax: As needed
POP/POP3 Server Address: pop-mail.outlook.com
POP/POP3 Server Port: 995
Display Name: How you want the “From” to show on sent emails
Sender: sending email address
