Is the printer on a VLAN that has internet connectivity?
Have you implemented any rules to block traffic for outgoing ports?
hi.
default VLAN and has internet access .
no rules implemented .
Even without rules implemented – do you have the advanced security features enabled? Does the device have the correct default gateway and DNS servers?
hi .
all settings are as default .
‘Tracking IP Address 1’ - 8.8.8.8
Does the machine have a troubleshooting section? If so – can the device ping 8.8.8.8?
Is the machines IP info put in manually or does it get DHCP?
If connectivity is Ok, and DNS is no issue, what is so special about this printer? They scan to email to what address?
If they are using a “traditional” SMTP server, then it may need to send to ports 25, 465 or 587.
If the email address is being hosted in Gmail or Exchange Online, then it will be trickier because these servers require modern authentication, which is not commonly implemented in most printers.
thank you for all the input .
problem seems to have self-rectified .
