Grandstream gwn7665

Just got in a gwn7665. So far it looks like all the other GS APs, does say wifi 6e on the front. Firmware version out of the box is 1.0.25.3 so updating it to 1.0.25.6. MAC address starts with EC:74, that’s new.

Seemed to take a while to update firmware and assign correct ssid. Doing from gwn.cloud so there is always a slight delay. It is stable now, phone connects at 1200Mbps. I will probably move this to my house as that is where I think I will get the most benefit.

It’s nice to have gwn.cloud as an option. I usually prefer our own GWN Manager or using an AP on site as a controller. If you use the largest bandwidth settings what’s your phys connection?

I adjusted it this morning, my phone now connects at 1921Mbps. It’s got a wifi 6 adapter but not 6e. I ordered a new wireless 6e for my laptop so I can connect at 6ghz. and see how it does.

I ordered an inexpensive 2.5gb POE switch off amazon for this, working good so far.

Dear Grandstream, is it too much to ask for a 2.5gb switch with POE? :grinning:

One thing I have noticed about this AP is that it takes longer to fully boot then some of the older models. It’s a lot hotter on the bottom too. I just have it sitting down on a table this moment, I put the mounting plate on it so a little air can flow under it.

So with a wireless 6e and using 6ghz and channel width of 160Mhz I connect at 2401Mbps which should be the max with this AP. IF GS releases a 4x4 mu mimo 6e AP then I would think I could connect at 4800Mbps.

Depends on your client too – did you do a speed test with phy at 2401?

Going to tomorrow. I have my desktop wired at 2500, will transfer some large files too see what I get.

The best I can get is around 70MB/s. Laptop has the 6e at 2401, desktop is at 2500.
That seems pretty good to me. I purchased a cheap 6e adapter so wasn’t expecting it to be super duper.
