I’m replacing a Samsung PBX with a UCM 63XX next week, and I’m looking for some suggestions on configuring the new system to work with our current processes.
In short, we use an automated attendant during the day to route calls from our customers to the correct department. We have a second automated attendant on another incoming line dedicated to our drivers. We are hard core on customer service, and don’t currently allow any calls to go to a voicemail unless we specifically send a call to a persons voicemail.
On the current system, we have Day and Night buttons to change the behavior of the Automated Attendant call routing. When the last person leaves the office, they enable Night Service, and the calls for those 2 Auto Attendant phone lines are routed to 2 cell phones.
I’m looking for suggestions on how to configure the Grandstream system to work in a similar way? Prefer a button option to switch between DAY/NIGHT configurations as opposed to a fixed schedule. We expect to probably use the WAVE app for the night service cell phones.
Since we only have one person covering night phones, we do expect to have voicemail answer if the person is on another call.
When you create your inbound routes on the UCM, set up inbound multiple mode. You can switch between the modes by dialing, *61, *62, *63 etc, for how many you have set up. You can change that *61 to something else, these are just defaults. The BLF # can be added to a phone so you can see the status. It just goes red or green. Green is default, red is one of the other modes.
On your inbound route page settings, you would check the inbound multiple mode button and then you can tell the inbound route what each mode should do.
You coming out of a samsung (guessing officeserv 7xxx?) its going to be a different experience. Samsung had one of the most malleable voicemails ever. The Asterisk voicemail/aa isnt as configurable but you should be able to do what you want to do as the UCM is pretty well equipped. Its not going to be the same as what you had, especially with buttons and such. (i’ve been a samsung tech since 2002 and have a 7100 here in my lab to use as a CO simulator)
Thanks. I sure know that. Would you be interested in 2 Samsung 7xxx systems? I have my current system, and a backup chassis with a few cards and power supply. Won’t be needing them after next week! Do you think anyone would pay anything for them?
I have a couple of spares already - for the same reasons you have… I have one here in my work LAB that I use to simulate a central office with other systems, and my moms house has a 7100 (which also has a spare so it should be good until she’s ready for a care home). I do see stuff on eBay, but for the most part it doesnt carry a lot of value. I used to make a few dollars selling old gear in years past but unless you’re selling Panasonic KX-TCA385 handsets that are in good condition (which are going for good money right now as care homes scramble to find other solutions), I found it more trouble than its worth. Sadly. The samsung voicemail was one of the most malleable systems i’ve ever worked on.
