Is the Grandstream model UCM6302A still a viable and “go-to” model soho or smb?
Yes – if you don’t need FXS or FXO ports – you can go with a UCM6300A. Anytime you see A in the model of a UCM it means audio calls only – no video.
I’m still installing these in care homes and smaller healthcare facilities / correctional, that dont need video. They are quite capable. I typically dont install anything smaller than 6303A because of processing power, standardizing on a smaller range of products to keep in house, and they always ask for something that needs analog later.
Currently thinking hard about the 6302 model. Configuring video would be nice, have a CISCO model phone with video capabilities.
Which phone model do you have?
I have the CISCO 8865.
This is for home use and learning, will get the UCM6301.
Any recommendations for Grandstream wireless handsets DECT vs Wi-Fi?
Ordered the Grandstream DP755 base station and DP722 handset
I have been doing a lot of the GS wifi phones, they work well. Had some issues when I first started using them, could not call out or in at random times. Took off all codecs except PCMU and no issues since. The DP755 & 722 you got are very stable too. The DECT phone will probably get through walls better.
Thanks, Which model GS wifi phone are you using?
I have a wp820 and wp825 I use at my house. Actually the wp820 was a beta unit I got and still works fine. Recently installed some of the newer wifi 6 ones and they work well too. I just installed a wp836 for a client, rugged wifi 6 one. I really like it, lighter too. I would avoid the wp810. I know lots of us had issues on those, not sure if the firmware is better now.
Tk U, will check out the models
The wp820 is a better unit, but the firmware on the wp810 is a lot more stable now. The only issue it transferring calls from it is a pain and requires to many button pushes. I do like the new wp83x line though. I agree on the WP836
For production in care homes and hospitals i’ve been deploying the SNOM/RTX M70, M80 (and for rich places M90) DECT. I’d rather use GS but their dect product isnt ‘there yet’ for MESH deployments. Honestly, snom has been VERY generous with RMA.
I have several locations using the GS WiFi cordless phones and when using GS Access Points they work great. I get great service as long as there is usable Wifi. The QOS available on the GS Access Points works great. I dont have any that are working in a Wifi MESH environment, All the AP’s were GS andn are hard wired.
Have not had a chance to configure the UCM. My wifi network is Ruijie Reyee which is very stable. Will order a GS WP826 wifi phone.
