GRP Phones losing wifi after a reboot?

I have a variety of GRP2614 (running 10.0.13.21) phones in a school which lacks hard wired connections…facility runs a Unifi Stack with dream machine and a fairly good network of UAP’s, and in-wall AP’s providing good coverage.

I have my template set up with a separate SSID/Vlan…the issue is, if phones are rebooted, they will not reconnect to the network automatically, and I need to manually go into the menu, search for the network, type in the password…

The network is setup with default settings, both 2.4 & 5 ghz…have used a similar setup in other locations with no major issues.

Any ideas as to why this could be occurring?

We use a template in GDMS to ensure the APs don’t lose their WiFi after a reboot.

can you elaborate on this solution Willie?

Same issue. I have a couple of wifi GRP extensions that it seems no matter what I do they will randomly disconnect and then seem to have lost the connection credentials for the wifi network.

Make sure your phone is bound to GDMS. Create a template for the phone in GDMS and then add the SSID, password, and enable WiFi.

So we have to pay for GDMS for this to work? We only have the free and it seems to not want to sync extensions or anything like that, just basically tells us if the UCM is online or not.

No - GDMS for device management is free.

OK we’ll have to look into it closer to determine how to get that setup. The guy who created the GDMS account said if he tried to do anything with extensions or anything it wanted him to subscribe to a management plan beyond the free one. Unless he didn’t set the free one up right…

Ok – you could invite either me or James and we can show you.

You should always be the owner of your own GDMS portal.

Well, it’s another guy at our church that setup that part. I have a login, just need to find the credentials. I guess I’ve hijacked this thread here, my bad. But can you PM me the basics of where I get it to do more than show us the status?

I posted on the Grandstream Forum to see if there were any solutions - support suggested upgrading phones to the latest 10.0.13.49 beta firmware and asked for feedback as to whether or not this fixed the issue…I don’t like betas, but made the upgrade and 1.5 weeks later, everything is working well with no Wifi drops, but probably too early to tell if it solved the issue, but I hope so.

Thanks. Just threw the update onto one of the extensions. Will see how it goes.

I noticed this problem after upgrading GRP2614s somewhere beyond 1.0.11.15 when the format of the Wifi screen changed within the GRP. They will randomly reboot and lose wifi connection. Have checked GDMS templates reprogrammed phones defaulted and reloaded and it still does it as of 1.0.13.31. Random reboots also happen on a hardwired PoE powered Telephone if Wifi is enabled as shown in GDMS. I suspected something in the Carrier (Comcast) Wifi, Had to disable Wifi to stop any reboots.
