GWN7062 restricts GWN7665 performance when set to manage them

Hello !

I have been trying to get one GWN7062 router and two GWN7665 APs to work together on a single SSID managed on the router’s interface (for more even coverage, or even mesh).

The problem I encountered is that whenever I pair the APs to the router (generally after a factory reset of the APs) the radio settings of all the three devices seems to be limited to what the router itself can do regarding WiFi: 80MHz maximum width (vs 160MHz on the APs), no 6GHz channels.

For now my solution has been to disable the WiFi on the router and manage the APs using their own controller.

Has anyone ever encountered something like this ? Is this a software bound limitation on the router’s side ?

If there’s anything I can do to learn more about the issue, don’t hesitate to share it !

I just tried using GDMS Cloud instead of the embedded controller and it seems to do a better job. I’m not particularly a fan of relying too much on cloud so I’ll keep looking for other ways.

I was gonna suggest doing that. You could also host gwn manager on a local machine instead of using the router to manage it.
