GWN7670 WiFi7 AP

Got a couple of the GWN7670s to test out. I have MLO enabled and my phone is connecting to both 2.4 and 5GHz. So far connection seems a little slow. I can’t get over 300Mbps on 5GHz with or without MLO enabled. I have the channel width set to 160MHz. Switching back to 80 or auto does not seem to make a difference. Could be my phone but since I can get over 1200Mbps on the 7665 pretty sure it’s the new AP. Besides that the AP is easy to setup up and add to GDMS. If anyone else here gets one of these I am interested in what connection you get.

I am still playing with the MLO settings on the Reyee RG-RAP73Pro. The Apple devices the download speeds are very good. Ordered a WiFi 6e USB 3.0 dongle for to desktop and laptop. I attached some screenshots of the AP settings.

I am testing using the OnePlus 13. It has wifi7 and supports MLO. I order a 7 adapter for my laptop to see how it does.

Grandstream says they are sending me one – as soon as I have it I’ll do a video and give some feedback. It’s kinda strange that there is no 6Ghz in these.

Cool. Yeah not having 6GHz on it is weird, since it’s their first wifi7 device and the 7665 does.

Suspiciously like the Alta Labs Ap6-Pro that has the chipset for it, has 4096 QAM, but is 5Ghz WiFi-6 only.

So there is a triband WiFi 7AP listed and it looks like it has a 2.5Gb port and 10Gb SFP+ port.

So I guess you would power with Poe on the 2.5 and use as a backup but the fiber would be the primary link.

Btw, I tried all kinds of crazy settings on this AP and can’t get a faster connection than 344Mbps. I bought a wifi7 adapter for my laptop and still the same. Flip over to my 7664 and 1200Mbps easily. I bought 2 of these, one for my office and at the house to test out and both only connect max 344. Weird.

Is there any chance on the 7670 you are using PPSK? When I set that up on my 7664 it cripples speed tests, unless I use openspeedtest.net. Which is also super weird.

Not using PPSK. I’m talking about what the device says it’s connection is, not the speed test. My phone will show a max connection of 344Mbps, speed test I can almost get that amount out of it. Switch back to the other GS AP the 7664 at my house, and I connect fast and can max out my internet speed, which is around 750/750Mbps. Same exact settings, channel bandwidth, security type personal WPA3. I will keep at it today between jobs and see if I can figure it out.
