So put a ticket in yesterday with GS but still haven’t heard back from them so I figure I might try here. Configured a GCC6010 over the weekend the only issue I am having is the Wireguard. It is on the official version 1.0.5.11 has anyone seen any issues with wireguard on the GCC routers? I am presuming they have some backend setup that opens up ports like 7062 router. Also I coming from Mikrotik world and troubleshooting this on Mikrotik routers was a lot easier, what would be the best way to troubleshoot this? Do I really need to capture logs in diagnostics page or is there a better way?
Or should I go ahead and do the firmware update to the beta version?
UPDATE*** I have noticed that every time that I turn off or delete the WG server my WAN port drops out and then 15-20 seconds later it comes back up?
I have noticed the Wan drop on the gwn routers too when making adjustments to wireguard. As far as issues with WG on the GCC, I have only set up one but it’s working fine. Location does have a static ip. It is running on the latest beta firmware.
Yeah, updated to Beta last night. Still same issue. Also done a DDNS with my online portal.net still not working. DDNS does resolve back to routers IP address.Seems like udp port is being blocked. All my other sites that have wire guard I have no issues and that’s including static and ddns WANs. Also still no reply from grand streams, help desk.
Hopefully GS support gets back to you. Does your wireguard client show any errors in its log when you click to activate the tunnel?
I had some strange issues when initially setting it up…I could connect to the Wireguard server but there was no connectivity…after deleting it and starting over, eventually it ended up working, though it was frustrating.
Handshack did not complete after 5 seconds. That is the logs I’m getting from app. And that is why I think either the port is closed even though I did open it through firewall. Or there is a bug in equipment.
Maybe do what @heyyaggie said, delete and redo. Did you use the wizard when setting it up?
Tried deleting and redoing a half dozen times. Same results.
Time is synced up right? Last thing I can thing of to try.
That is a good question? I’ll look here in a bit.
Time is right on router. Finally GS tech got back with me. They want me to spin up a syslog server which I can do in any in ubuntu on my personal servers but can you recommend one? I will also put this out as another topic.
I use Log Center on my synology nas when needed.
Grandstream has a free Windows log server on their page here:
Yeah saw that too. Thanks Willie. Spun up gray log last night got it up and running but looks like I will setup an inputs and outputs. Just starting reading docs on this. I will have to see if i have windows that i can setup as a vm. It’s been a a bit since I’ve been in my proxmox server. I’ve been studying for the CWNA and other work stuff.
Here’s a tip for your CWNA – if you’re using their book – and the exam objectives say WiFi 7 ISN’T on the exam – know some basic WiFi 7 stuff.
Yes sir. Thanks for the tip. I am studying a little of 7 too. Namely all the flavors of MLO, Preamble puncturing and how that works and what is it use for and WPA3. Been doing this since the “802.11n” days. All self taught through a lot of sweat, tears and hair pulling in those days. But learned a ton. And always kept up with my education about wireless throughout the years even though no cert. Been really heavily concentrating on wireless for the past year and I feeling the time is right to get my cert in wireless, it’s a personal goal. Plus on top of that I will be starting a side hustle doing wifi surveys/planning/consultation for anyone who wants/needs one. And having it I feel will open may open doors where I live. If not, oh well. It’s still a personal goal. I do t think installers around here do proper planning and design.
I also did get windows up on a VM and pulled some logs but really didn’t see anything glaring that said anything about wire guard and/or port or IP address. Kind of wondering if it’s because the VM is behind vlan even though the I’m routing “All” to WG.
