Anyone have any suggestions for a Mini PC? I need something small to do remote access, space might be limited soon… I’ve looked at some on amazon, but you know how that is…
I have been buying little Ryzen 5 5500u mini pc. Usually can get them for around $230-$250 but sometimes they will give another $50 off. Type KAMRUI Mini PC with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U in your amazon search. Just make sure if you do get one it’s shrink wrapped.
But you can probably find a lot of older nucs on ebay that work fine. We had a bunch of 6th gen nucs get traded in and they work perfect for remote access. Something like this. Intel NUC Destop i5 Nuc NUC6i5SY 6 Gen 16GB 256GB M.2-SSD Win 10 Pro HDMI USB 3 | eBay
We use the Beelink products and they are great.
Beelink is good, they have some nice higher end ones.
I will check them out, i’ve been using the lenovo or dell mini-pc’s (because thats what our IT dept had access to).
I’d Second BeeLink and NUCs (even the newer ones that aren’t made by Intel anymore) also had lots of good luck with referb-ing ChromeBoxs -Use MrChromeBox to boot a new OS and install any variety of Linux with DWService installed - then forget about them they run forever seems.
I will check my IT bin, may still NUC, for $25 should cover the shipping and handling within the US only.
I agree on the Beelink models. We had been using the Beelink T4 Pro Mini PC, Celeron N3350, and now they are no longer available. We moved to the Bmax B1 Pro Mini with the Intel N4000. They run $99 on Amazon and have had pretty good luck with them. They are a little larger than the Beelink T4 we had been using but not a lot larger. We use both for remote access so far so good. We set the BIOS to return to the previous state on power loss.
I’ve ended up replacing all my Raspberry PI’s [they just don’t have the longevity] (used for digital signage) with rebuilt Chromebox CN60’s - can get them on Ebay for 30$ - they are stout little boxes easily converted to a Linux distro - set em an forget em. Use a BeeLink SER5 for my desktop running PopOS! zero issues.
