UGREEN NAS 8-Bay

I am waiting on the release of the UGREEN NAS. The hardware specs with the price is looking hard to beat. The NAS will be used as a backup to my QNAP.

So I have been checking these out, the ones with the i5 look to be nice. That being said, what is making one want to use this over another brand? Thanks for any replies, I am really interested in your opinions!

looks nice but its def not in my specs range.

Hello, I am looking at the UGREEN for the hardware specs and price. The DXP8800 Plus for $899 vs the Synology DS1823xs Plus for $1799. I need a NAS to backup my current QNAP TVS-h874. I am Ok, with the UGREEN OS having some bugs, it is not going to be internet facing.

Hello jhippl, What are the specs you are looking for in a NAS?

I run/build datacenters so top end synology is the lowest i can do for smaller stuff like a place to store my backups and at home i take surveys and get swag arrays when i need one. I have a 20tb pure array running at home now.

I wish QNAP could get their security under control. Their hardware options are fantastic.

Indeed, I’ve been eyeing a supermicro e1s and prob put truenas on it to see how it does. I’ll get one for my PoC lab and see how it does preform with about 10tb of disks in a raid 10. It looks like it would be great for databases.

It also depends on what you are looking to do with the nas, I like to run some of the smaller applications on the Synology directly not just iscsi/smb. The QNAP app store isnt anywhere near as good as the Synology app store.

I retired my TrueNAS running an HP z800 and z640 workstation. Wanted a pre-build system, My wife and sons could use. The QNAP tvs-h874 i9, meets and exceeds what I need for home NAS. The

Gotcha, yes the specs do look nice and the price is cheap right now. I will let you all beta test these! My current NAS a DS723 is working great, but I would like to back it up offsite to my house.

Very nice! Have you tried adding a wifi adapter to it? I went ahead and backed the 2bay.

OK that OS doesn’t look bad, it’s my Synology like than QNAP like. Currently that’s def in the home user category but it has potential.

Just wish it wasn’t limited to Germany and the US for now.
