Unifi Travel router

Looking at buying the travel router tomorrow if I can snag one. Mainly to stream my local OTA TV channels when away from home. I have a device called Tablo that allows my OTA TV antenna to connect to my unifi network and stream via an app to up to 4 TVs with no coax required.

We do some traveling and I don’t see why once the travel router is bound to my home network that it wouldn’t work.

Anyone checked it out and have any thoughts or comments? TIA

As long as you bind it to your UniFi OS Console it should do exactly what you want.

Thanks Willie, that’s my understanding. Got one ordered this morning as soon as they went live.

I have been using a Glinet Travel router in Colombia for the past few weeks, connected as a wireguard client back to my ucg-fiber at home, had no problem connecting my corporate laptop to glinet and also connect with an f5 vpn back to work. Also used the wireguard client on my phone to get access to devices on my home network, no issues! Unify makes connectivity seemless!

@williehowe I got the travel router a couple days ago. Will be traveling today and will b able to use it in a hotel later this evening. I have my home unifi network set up with an ip of 10.0.0.1 and I notice that the travel router is 192.168.2.1, and was wondering if it’s bound to my home will that cause any problmems? I don’t think it will but not terribly advanced on this stuff. Thanks in advance.

From what I’ve gathered on the travel router is that it will pull in one of your SSIDs to make connecting easier for your devices and it can also connect back to your network via a sort of wireguard connection.

What it does not do is extend your network so you will not be getting an IP on your network but rather it will be a VPN connection back to your network.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I got it setup and updated to the newest firmware. Connected to the motel wifi and it did connect back to my UDR. The problem is the wifi at the hotel doesn’t have enough speed to let it work worth a hoot. So I connected my iPhone that is on Verizon and connected to 5G UW with three bars and it’s not super good, it works but still slow. Tomorrow we go to a cabin we have rented and hopefully a better experience there.
