Videos Needed - Need Your Input

Been chatting a bit today with @rutman286 and we think there are knowledge gaps in videos available on YouTube (not just my videos but in general) – what are some of the in-weeds configuration things you’d like to see.

I know Willie is planning on this one already, but an example would be a walkthrough of the new stacking features recently released for several model switches. Details like throughput and how many switches can be stacked would be helpful.

An in depth video or series on SSL proxy would be very helpful. I would make sure to include SSL cert import tutorials for Mac, PC, iOS, and Android.

VRRP on the GCC series would be extremely valuable as well.

Let know what other ides you all have!

I am commenting from a noob perspective. There are very few GS equipment videos on YT compared the the other brand. Of the GS videos there are few that go in depth into product features (plenty of unboxing). As a noob to both managed switches, APs, stand alone routers, etc and GS equipment it would great to see in depth videos showing every feature of each piece of equipment. I’m sure many of your followers know the what and why of settings, but I believe many more would learn something from some buried menu setting. Not only would knowing what some features are used for, knowing what defaults to use and why would be extremely useful.

My input is that sometimes the videos assume (even if they don’t do it intentionally) that viewers know certain things about networks. I’ve watched countless videos over the years about setting up a network or deploying a certain product and it seems there is often some bit sluffed over or not detailed enough and I usually chalk it up to them not realizing they even did it because they mess with networking so often that it comes natural to them. Some of us are novices or barely above that level and need ever bit covered. This goes for a lot of topics but networking is certainly one.

Hey Willie, I’m pretty fluent with grandstream provisioning using zero config. In fact I’d say there isn’t much about zero config that I don’t know. Where I’m really lacking is in gdms config. I’ve had mixed success in trying to provision handsets remotely, where the customer has an on-prem UCM, and they want to move a phone off of their Network remotely using gdms.
I’ve got user where the phone absolutely refused to connect to the UCM through gdms, and I ended up having to log into the device to activate TLS in order to make it work manually. As an old gray hair coming from zero config, gdms is a struggle for me.
