What do you think the odds of them pulling the subscription lever will be? Do you have a plan b in the event they start charging for Windows? I’ve also read in a couple places that the hardware requirements for 12 won’t give the way they did for 11.
Most of my workloads at the user level are web based applications or could migrated over to a web based application so I would either go the Chromeos or Mint Linux route.
I really hope Windows does not go to a subscription model. The cost of the OS has never been that much. I don’t care too much about other software, O365 or quickbooks or maybe adobe acrobat. But not the OS.
Hi,
Sure hope not. I think that may push more regular users at some point to look for alternative OS, such as macOS or Linux. Depending on what software they might be using would be a big point for them.
I sure would not pay for a windows subscription.
Who knows what they are thinking. Maybe If you had a 365 subscription they would include, windows free with that.
